...living arrangement looks something like this:
A big airy loft in Tribeca. It's on a quiet street with a lot of light and even has a little outdoor space.
Two months of the year (say, January and July), I swap with someone in Paris. Ideally, in the 2eme, 9eme, 10eme or 6eme.
What's your dream living arrangement?
An apartment that's mostly windows and balcony with a view of Puget Sound and the Olympic Mountains beyond. I will be too busy for any activities other than sitting in front of those windows (on rainy days) or out on the balcony (all other days) crying at that view.
ReplyDeleteA Paris apartment most of the year. One with double-height ceilings and mouldings and fireplaces and parquet floors. Sparsely furnished, but with a pale blue, velvet fainting couch for reading and a sheepskin rug for my toes.
ReplyDeleteJanuary/February: A bungalow in Venice, Ca. The smell of the ocean, salt on my skin, sand in all my shoes, wind in my hair, curvy canyons, cold desert nights, a big messy dog named Rodeo, a Jeep with wood panels and unlimited access to Mexican Food.
August: a month-long trip somewhere far: Patagonia, Tibet, Tahiti...
I would be content with a large light studio apt in NYC, for part of the year, a cottage in Upstate NY for some of the year, and I will keep my home here, in Buenos Aires for the rest of the year .. with frequent trips to Paris too. ( hotel there)
ReplyDeleteMy friend Joel has the most beautiful place, it is in MONTMARTRE-right at the top of the hill on Rue Lamarck. If it ever became available, then I would choose to live there probably forever.
ReplyDeleteAn apartment anywhere around Quartier Latin or La Marais during spring. Summer in Boston, which I consider my hometown...a nice apartment facing the Commonwhealth. I'd be a happy camper!!!
ReplyDeleteSix months a year in Miami, in a lovely little modern home in the South Grove; six months a year in Paris, in an airy apartment somewhere on the right bank - perhaps in the 9th - with room to write.

Spring through fall in the fertile farmlands of southeastern Pennsylvania with winters and generous summer vacations in Rome--an apartment within a few blocks of Campo de Fiori. Or perhaps the whole thing could be solved by living on a farmette not too far north of Rome. With my husband along, we'd spend lots of time in Paris, too.

ReplyDeleteAn apartment in Paris with a street-view balcony, in any of the first 7 arrondisements, or the 10th. Boulangerie/patisserie on the same block. Money left over to travel two months out of the year.
ReplyDeleteOh boy, this is quite a loaded question. Paris 10 months out of the year, Philly for one, and somewhere warm and beautiful (daily) where I can swim for that last month. We all can dream, right?
