The Parisians come out in summertime
Oui, oui, many Parisians flee the city in August. The others, they simply flee to the park.
Parc de la Villette...
The Louvre and Jardins des Tuileries...
Parc de Bercy...
Hipster heaven, Parc des Buttes Chaumont...
Place des Vosges
Or even the pavement outside the Pompidou.
Take your pick!

Two things amaze me in Paris: 1. How the Parisians just grab a quilt, some wine, cheese, bread, find a grassy spot and plop down. In the U.S. it's a big hairy deal with coolers the size of Rhode Island, fold up chairs, bug spray, giant fully equipped picnic baskets, toys for the kids, portable music etc.
