French word of the day: pompette
Def: tipsy
What a fun word for that pitch-perfect feeling of being, not drunk, not snockered, but just a wee bit inebriated. Everything in the world is beautiful.
That's a great word to have since the French seem to have a violent knee-jerk reaction to being called even a little bit 'drunk' (or in their language bourré or ivre). I try to explain that being drunk doesn't necessarily imply falling down and being out-of-control -- I think tipsy or buzzed is what I mean, so I'll definitely start using pompette instead and see if I get a better response!
I love it! I will use it well on my first trip ever to Paris in April 2012!!!!!!
